A good laugh on Valentine's Day

Last week I gave a presentation at the Rosedale Running Room to a Learn to Run and 5K Run group. My topic was on Preventive Injury and the benefits of Cross Training.
A few days later, the Coach emailed me this message. I think my message was missed!

HEALTH MESSAGE:

1. If walking/cycling is good for your health, the postman would be immortal.
2. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water and is fat.
3. A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years.
4. A tortoise doesn't run, does nothing ..yet lives for 450 years.

AND YOU TELL ME TO EXERCISE!

Inspirational Photo

I think this picture says it all. Now go out there and "be active!" NO EXCUSES!

Happiness

I could not resist posting this inspiration from Deborah Hall's " A Calm Moment". It really makes you think about how important it is to be in the moment and to be happy for what we have instead of what we don't have. Most of us want more and work hard to obtain the things we think will make us happy. But if we take a moment and look around us, we'll see that we already have so much that does make us happy!

"Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you sit down quietly, may alight upon you."

...Nathaniel Hawthorne

How many times have you said to yourself "I'll be happy WHEN....I get that new car, new job, new house, new relationship." Why? Why are you postponing your happiness? It is not in the future. Happiness is in the present moment.

Just go to the park and watch children play. They are living in the present moment. And, they are full of innocence, joy, playfulness, sweetness, love. Without even thinking about it!

The next time you feel guilt about being happy, or feel you don't deserve to be happy....STOP. Sit down quietly and make a good choice for yourself. It is your birthright to be happy.

Lululemon Expansion Series: Yoga at the ROM

Hello yogis or anyone who enjoys yoga whenever they can get in their practice!

I attached photos of Lululemon's free Yoga event held at the ROM, Toronto's Royal Ontario Museum, on Thursday, January 26th.

The host of the event, or shall I say amazing Yoga Instructor and Owner of IAMYOGA studios, Linda Malone, lead over 300 people in a Flow yoga class that took place in front of a Buddha statue and a few dinosaur exhibits as well.

The energy that was felt in this room full of individuals of all ages and fitness levels, was truly moving. I felt an immediate connection with everyone and for one full hour, I was filled with peace, calmness and most importantly a sense of community.

Lululemon has now teamed up with The National Ballet of Canada to host their second Yoga event on Thursday, February 16th at 7pm. I encourage you to come out an experience this sense of community and togetherness in an amazing venue. Click on the link for more details!
